Professional Tree Care in Alabama
36 Years of Expertise Right Here in Tuscaloosa County
RF Tree Services LLC was built on a simple idea: show up, do the work right, and leave the property cleaner than you found it. For over 36 years, that commitment has made Robert Finnen a go-to name for tree removal and trimming in Northport and across the greater Tuscaloosa area. Robert's knowledge comes from years on the job working with Alabama's specific tree species, including water oaks, pines, and hardwoods, not from a classroom. That real-world expertise means every assessment, every cut, and every cleanup is handled with precision and care. Whether you're dealing with a hazardous leaner or need routine canopy maintenance, RF Tree Services LLC brings the skill and accountability your property deserves.
Our Story
Built on Alabama Expertise and a Commitment to Showing Up
RF Tree Services LLC has operated out of Northport, AL for over 36 years under the direct ownership of Robert Finnen. What started as a commitment to quality tree care has grown into one of Tuscaloosa County's most recognized and reliable tree service operations. Robert's background working with Alabama's native species, including storm-prone pines and old-growth hardwoods, gives him a practical edge that no certification alone can replicate. He knows how these trees behave in Alabama's climate, how they fail during storm season, and how to safely manage them on residential and commercial properties alike. Every job RF Tree Services takes on reflects that depth of knowledge, and every customer gets the same direct, no-pressure service that has defined this company from day one.

The RF Tree Services Difference
Why Tuscaloosa County Homeowners Keep Calling Us Back
Choosing a tree service in Northport or Tuscaloosa means trusting someone with your property, your safety, and in many cases your largest financial asset. RF Tree Services LLC gives you a single point of accountability: Robert Finnen, a 36-year veteran of Alabama tree care who stands behind every estimate and every job.
36 Years of Local Experience
RF Tree Services has been operating in Northport and Tuscaloosa County for over three decades. That kind of tenure means Robert knows Alabama's trees, its storms, and its homeowners inside and out.
We Actually Show Up
Ghosting and rescheduling are common frustrations with contractors in this area. RF Tree Services is built around a simple promise: if we schedule a job, we show up. That reliability is one of the most consistent things customers mention when they refer us to neighbors.
Licensed and Fully Insured
Every job RF Tree Services completes is backed by full licensing and insurance coverage. You're protected, and so is your property, from the first cut to the final cleanup.
Property Restoration Standard
Heavy equipment can leave a yard looking worse than the tree did. RF Tree Services holds itself to a higher standard: we leave your property cleaner than we found it. That means debris hauled away, ruts minimized, and driveways swept before we go.
Direct Owner Accountability
Robert Finnen is not a dispatcher or a franchise manager. He handles every estimate personally and stays accountable throughout the project. You always know who is responsible for your job.
University of Alabama Pedigree
Robert spent 10 years as a beautification expert at the University of Alabama, managing trees near structures and high-traffic areas at an institutional scale. That experience raises the bar for every residential job he takes on in Tuscaloosa County.

Common Questions About Tree Services in Northport, AL
Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can RF Tree Services give me a quote based on photos I send in?

No. RF Tree Services does not provide estimates based on photos. Robert Finnen conducts every estimate in person, on-site, to make sure the assessment is accurate. Tree work involves real safety variables that can't be evaluated from an image, including lean angles, root conditions, proximity to structures, and the specific species involved. An in-person visit ensures the quote reflects the actual scope of the job and that nothing is missed before the crew arrives.

  • Who is responsible for clearing branches from the power and cable lines running to my house?

The responsibility for clearing vegetation from the service lines that run from the street pole to your home falls on the homeowner, not the utility company. This includes power, cable, internet, and phone lines on private property. Many homeowners are unaware of this until a branch causes an outage or a safety issue. RF Tree Services specializes in precise service line clearing and can handle this work safely for residential properties throughout Tuscaloosa County.

  • Does RF Tree Services handle emergency tree removal after a storm?

Yes. RF Tree Services offers 24/7 emergency storm cleanup for fallen trees, blocked driveways, and trees that have come down on roofs or other structures. Alabama storms can create urgent hazards at any hour, and RF Tree Services is set up to respond quickly. If a tree comes down overnight or on a weekend, same-day emergency service is available.

  • Is RF Tree Services licensed and insured for large tree removals near my house?

Yes. RF Tree Services LLC is fully licensed and insured, covering all work including large-scale removals near structures. This protects both the homeowner and the crew throughout the job. Working with an uninsured crew creates personal liability risk for the property owner if an accident occurs on site. RF Tree Services carries full coverage so you don't have to worry about that exposure.

  • What areas does RF Tree Services serve in and around Tuscaloosa County?

RF Tree Services primarily serves Northport, Tuscaloosa, Cottondale, Hillcrest, Vance, Coker, Brookwood, Holt, and surrounding Tuscaloosa County communities. The company focuses on jobs within roughly a one-hour radius of Northport to keep response times short and project costs efficient. Areas outside that range, including Centerville and Bibb County, fall outside the standard service area.

  • Does RF Tree Services perform stump grinding, and is it included with tree removal?

Yes, stump grinding is available as a service. It is not automatically included with tree removal and is treated as a separate job. RF Tree Services occasionally subcontracts stump grinding to ensure the proper heavy grinding equipment is used for each situation. If you need a stump removed after a tree takedown, let Robert know during the estimate so it can be scheduled and coordinated correctly.

  • Is Robert Finnen a certified arborist?

Robert Finnen is not a certified arborist, and RF Tree Services is transparent about that distinction. What Robert does bring is 36 years of hands-on field experience working with Alabama's specific tree species, including water oaks, pines, and hardwoods, plus 10 years as a beautification expert at the University of Alabama. His knowledge comes from decades of real job experience, and he offers professional tree health assessments and hazardous tree evaluations based on that deep, practical expertise.

  • What does RF Tree Services do to protect my yard during a tree job?

RF Tree Services holds itself to a property restoration standard that goes beyond just cutting and leaving. The crew works to minimize ruts from heavy equipment, hauls away all debris, and sweeps driveways and work areas before departing. The goal on every job is to leave your property cleaner than it was when the crew arrived. This commitment to cleanup is one of the most consistent things customers mention when they refer RF Tree Services to friends and neighbors.
